Photo/Writing 9 March 1-5

1. Continue working on Macros: Criteria: You are expected to complete 10 shots with a good variety of shots.  You must have a focal point, your photos must be in focus, have a clean background, use light appropriately and photos must be taken of interesting subject matter. You need to think about how you want to compose the shot. Try to get shots that are creative and different. You will edit the shots for cropping and lighting and then post them up to Flickr in an album called MACROS. 20 marks.

2. Writing Assignment #3: Bucket List, typed, saved under writing, print off and hand in to Mr. Reilly when finished. Do not move on to the skatepark assignment until Macros and Bucket List are completed.

3. New Photo Assignment: Skate Park shoot  - In this assignment students should focus on taking shots from different angles. The skate park makes an excellent backdrop for photos, so make sure you have a focal point in all of your shots. You could shoot people, skaters/bikers in action, objects or even the skate park itself...just make sure you remember your rules of composition while shooting. Try a variety of different types of shots. Also if you take any objects out to shoot they must get returned.
( 10 shots = 20 marks)

Note from Ms Chase: Upon looking at people's recent shots from the skate park, I have noticed the following:
  • You need to take your time to compose the shot
  • Many of the photos are taken from too far away, get closer to your subject
  • Keep your background clean, ask people to get out of the way if they are in your shots
  • Ask yourself if the shots you have taken meet the criteria
  • No more grocery basket shots PLEASE
  • Make sure you edit shots before posting to Flickr
